New Fireworks Show, Special Castaway Club Gift Announced for Disney Cruise Line’s ‘Silver Anniversary at Sea’
New Fireworks Show, A Special Castaway Club Gift Announced for Disney Cruise Line’s ‘Silver Anniversary at Sea’
Have you heard the news? Disney Cruise Line is turning 25 this summer! From dazzling new entertainment offerings and family activities to inspired menu items and a themed merchandise collection, there is so much to look forward to on board all five ships from May through September of 2023.
With the official celebration beginning in just a few months, we’re excited to reveal more details about the brand-new magic you can experience during our “Silver Anniversary at Sea.”
Watch a New Fireworks Show Light Up the Night
In 1998, Disney Cruise Line made history as the first cruise line ever to produce a fireworks show at sea! In the 25 years since, fireworks have remained a quintessential part of the Disney Cruise Line experience, inspiring core memories for generations of dreamers.
Today, we are thrilled to share that the night sky will shine even brighter this summer as a shimmering new fireworks display premieres on select “Silver Anniversary at Sea” itineraries!
Created in honor of Disney Cruise Line’s 25th anniversary, the limited-time evening extravaganza will uphold the cherished Disney tradition of fireworks and honor Disney’s continuing legacy of adventure. The dazzling spectacle will be set to the tunes of iconic and beloved Disney music, and anchoring the show will be a brand-new signature song created especially for the “Silver Anniversary at Sea.”
The 25th anniversary fireworks show will be featured on most Bahamian, Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises this summer.
Say “Cheers” During a Shimmering Soiree
A captain’s reception is a well-known cruising tradition that has been enjoyed by Disney Cruise Line guests since the very beginning. In honor of our “Silver Anniversary at Sea,” we are reimagining this time-honored event into a one-of-a-kind celebratory experience, adding an extra dose of magic to sailings this summer.
On one evening each cruise, guests will be invited to join their ship’s captain and cruise director in the atrium for an anniversary toast. The festive affair will feature appearances from Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse — dressed for the occasion in their shimmering new looks, of course! — and a delightful rendition of the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” theme song.
Celebrate with A Limited-Edition Castaway Club Gift
If you’ve sailed with Disney Cruise Line before, you can be part of the best club on the high seas – the Castaway Club, which recognizes returning Disney Cruise Line guests with exclusive rewards and perks.
We’re excited to announce that all Castaway Club members who sail during the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” this summer will receive a limited-edition framed art print in their stateroom to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime celebration until supplies last. As shown above, this design was created by Disney artist Joe Kaminski, whose work is featured in The Art of Disney galleries, Disney resort hotels and Disney Cruise Line ships. (One 11×14 framed print will be delivered per stateroom.)
Now is your chance to take part in a milestone celebration 25 years in the making!

Inside Look at What’s Coming to Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
Inside Look at What’s Coming to Walt Disney World Resort Hotel
A visit to Walt Disney World lets you leave reality behind and step into stories both familiar and new. And after a day of those exhilarating adventures, is there anything better than coming back to the fresh lobby scents, amenities and relaxation of your Disney Resort hotel?
We’ve had a lot to celebrate across our more than 25 resort hotels during our 50th Anniversary celebration, and today we’re sharing an inside look at some big and exciting renovations that have been happening around our world. From new dining offerings, room remodels and expansions to refreshed lobby spaces, new furniture, smart technology and more … our Disney Resorts Collection has been rolling out constant, fresh updates ready to welcome you real soon.
Lately we’ve been spending a lot of time at Disney’s BoardWalk, which is evolving into something very special as this resort, sitting along the idyllic boardwalk, is being reinvigorated. This year has kicked off a series of refurbishments for the resort, with new furnishings and the start of delectable dining enhancements such as a new Northeast-inspired deli and a lobby café–Carousel Coffee—coming very soon for those craving a specialty latte and pastry.
Construction is also underway for The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, a whimsical table service restaurant and bakery expected to open in 2023.
You’ll soon be welcomed into the BoardWalk Resort with a lively lobby update, and newly refreshed guest rooms that complement the artful design throughout the resort.
This upcoming year is sure to be an exciting one for Disney’s BoardWalk!
2023 will also be a momentous year for Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as it celebrates its 35th anniversary on July 1! The resort has been receiving some grand touches that weave familiar storybook charm into the Victorian elegance of this flagship resort. Guest rooms are currently being updated as we speak with more to come as the beloved Grand Floridian ushers in its third decade of magic. The ongoing renovation will also include an upcoming refurbishment of the lobby, which will maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements.
The story doesn’t end there, as you can dine underneath the lovely London sky at Citricos, inspired by “Mary Poppins Returns” … and maybe bookend your evening with a shimmering sip at Enchanted Rose Lounge, inspired by “Beauty and the Beast.” And our beloved Victoria & Albert’s – the culinary crown jewel of Walt Disney World Resort and AAA Five Diamond Award winner – reopened its doors this year to rave reviews featuring a renovated interior.
As one of our original hotels, Disney’s Contemporary Resort also recently received thoughtful enhancements that truly tie together the best of retro-modern charm. Within the walls of its a-frame architecture, the lobby now features the flair of color stylist and designer Mary Blair through new murals that complement a lovingly curated collection of modern art and historical photography of the resort’s construction.
Just as the sleek monorail system runs through this hotel, the retro boldness travels into refurbished guest rooms where you’ll find some super touches from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Incredibles” films – the first time our stories have been featured in this resort’s design!
Similar updates have graced the shores of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where we’ve spent special attention merging the heritage and charm of the South Seas with modern touches and even patterns and textures from the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Moana” in guest rooms.
Nearly all elements of this resort have been refreshed in the past few years, from an open and inviting lobby, to dining locations, outdoor spaces and more!
Like many of our other resort hotels, all three of our cherished Disney’s All-Star Resorts—Movies, Music and Sports—are finishing up their refurbishments and welcome you with fresh new guest rooms and open inviting lobbies.
Plus, these resorts are just FUN with their larger-than-life icons, engaging pool areas and plenty of activities to enjoy!
And last but not least, how could we forget about these *fin-tastic* new designs of guest rooms in the Trinidad area of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
Of course, Disney Resort hotel guests also enjoy free onsite transportation – including our newest mode of transportation, the fan-favorite Disney Skyliner! – as well as our popular early theme park entry benefit (not to mention surprise pop-up appearances from beloved Disney pals). And don’t forget about Hey Disney!, our magical new voice assistant that will roll out in phases across Disney Resort hotels.
This is just a small taste at what our resort teams have been up to over the past few years, and we have so much more in store for your next trip. Whether you dream of a campsite or treehouse nestled in nature, a bungalow or cabin along the water, our resorts are refreshed and ready to make your “sweet dreams” come true.
Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more updates on these projects and more!

Disney Eats: What’s Cooking at Disney’s BoardWalk
We've got some delicious and exciting updates coming to you from Disney’s BoardWalk that everyone's taste buds are going to love. This resort has seen multiple culinary updates already this year – most notably the opening of the can’t-miss BoardWalk Deli. Soon there will be even more tasty additions coming to Disney’s BoardWalk, and we've got a sneak peek for everyone.
Let’s kick things off with something we are very excited about – a new coffee shop will be opening soon – Carousel Coffee! This new location will be guests’ new go-to spot for their favorite coffee beverages, tea options, and some mouthwatering pastries to indulge in. This location will feature Artisan Roasted Joffrey’s Coffee in its yummy sips.
Breakfast with Woody and Friends!
In the coming weeks, guests can expect to see the full menu, but we’ve got a few items to share early. Carousel Coffee will be serving a Dark Cherry Mocha Frozen Blended Coffee and Whipped Cream. Cool down with the iconic cherry flavor known in seaside getaways like this and a staple of coffee shops, family-owned delis, and ice cream parlors along the shores.
There will be a seasonal rotation of coffees too! Guests will soon be able to enjoy the Cinnamon Bun Frozen Blended Coffee with Whipped Cream. This delicious frozen drink, dusted with cinnamon spice, lets guests take in the sweet smell that will make them reminisce about the days of old as they venture down the BoardWalk.
The Nitro Cold Brew Coffee is a freshly batched, extra smooth, dark-roasted cold brew coffee infused with nitro. This coffee beverage takes the rich history of coffee and combines it with the ever-popular nitro cold brews of today.
For those tea lovers out there, Carousel Coffee has options for you too. The Pomegranate-Green Tea Lemonade features fresh-squeezed lemon juice thoroughly blended with pomegranate green tea and a touch of agave. This drink is naturally sweetened and served over ice for a cool and refreshing sip.
Now, let’s explore some of the sweets coming to this new spot. The Crunchy Raspberry Danish is a must-try. This treat features crispy sugar dough layers with hibiscus fondant and raspberry. Think of a croissant and muffin combined! There are also plenty of classic treats, like the Vintage Mickey & Minnie Sugar Cookie, Banana Bread, Croissant, Blueberry Muffin, Chocolate Muffin, NJ Crumb Cake, and Bagels. And what Disney location would not be complete without a Mickey Brownie?
Another addition that sweet lovers are sure to be excited about is The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk. This new location recently began construction to bring the new spot to life and is slated to open in 2023. We recently shared a first look at what guests can expect The Cake Bake Shop to look like once it opens its doors on the BoardWalk – just look at how pretty it is. As guests walk past this spot, they'll be able to get a glimpse at some of the tasty dishes that lie ahead once it opens. This restaurant is owned by Gwendolyn Rogers, a self-taught baker with a love for Disney and obviously cakes!
Upon opening, this sweet spot will feature both savory and sweet items on its menu, and of course showcase the incredible cakes that Gwendolyn and her team have created, for brunch, lunch, and dinner. In addition to the regular menu, guests will also be able to enjoy an elegant afternoon tea service – how lovely! And the offerings don’t stop there. Not only, will there be table-service offerings, but also a quick-service bakery for guests to pick up these delicious delights on-the-go.
There aren’t just cakes here. The restaurant and bakery will serve cookies, French macarons, brownies, dessert bars, pies, and cheesecakes in addition to the handmade cakes. These treats aren’t just beautiful but delicious too. The whimsical atmosphere of The Cake Bake Shop and its goodies are sure to be a charming addition to the BoardWalk.
There we have it, some of the tasty tidbits coming soon to Disney’s BoardWalk!
Bon Appetit! All-New Eats and Treats Set to Debut on Pixar Day at Sea
Bon Appetit! All-New Eats and Treats Set to Debut on Pixar Day at Sea
On the new Pixar Day at Sea coming to the Disney Fantasy in early January, families will be treated to a brand-new interactive breakfast with Woody and friends, sweet treats that are sure to bring “joy” to everyone and a dinner menu themed to the California roots of Pixar Animation Studios.
Breakfast with Woody and Friends!
He’s the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild West! That’s right, grab your cowboy (or cowgirl) hats for a brand-new interactive breakfast that will debut on Pixar Day at Sea. Themed to Woody’s Roundup in “Toy Story 2,” the “Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends” will feature a cowboy guitarist, musical show moments and appearances from Sheriff Woody, Jesse and Bullseye.
Assorted muffins and pastries are just the beginning, as this new menu is filled with delights from top to bottom. Families can opt for pancakes, French toast or classic Mickey waffles fresh off the griddle; try the Prospector’s Breakfast Burrito (filled with potato puffs, sausage, scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese); or nosh on Bullseye’s Mini Pancake Tower with bananas, raspberry jelly, peanut butter and whipped cream. Lighter options include smoked salmon with cream cheese, onions and capers; chilled grapefruit; and a yogurt parfait or plant-based berry oatmeal parfait.
Three signature breakfast dishes are also part of the “Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends” menu, including a buttermilk biscuit entree with sausage gravy; a plate featuring two fried eggs of your choice on hashbrown potatoes with chorizo; and a plant-based combo featuring scrambled eggs, sausage patties, pancake, hashbrown and grilled tomato.
Advance reservations are required for the “Hey Howdy Breakfast with Woody and Friends.” Guests can book up to 30 days in advance of their sailing, pending availability.
Joy-Filled Treats
Speaking of dessert, with all the entertainment happening throughout Pixar Day at Sea, guests will need to keep up their energy – and these sweet treats should certainly help! Be sure to stop by Sweet on You for a multitude of dessert options that celebrate the beloved stories of Pixar films. The Joyful Lemon Cupcake will spark happiness with its lemon sponge and vanilla crème frosting, while the Toy Story Letter Blocks (chocolate blocks filled with mixed candy) and the Sheriff Rice Krispy Treats Badge will make the perfect Pixar pick-me-up.
Themed desserts will also be available in grab-and-go locations aboard the Disney Fantasy, including Cabanas, Cove Café and the concierge lounge.
California-Inspired Eats
In the evening, a new dinner menu with dishes inspired by the home of Pixar Animation Studios will be served at all rotational dining venues.
Highlights from the appetizer selection include a smoked salmon and smoked trout rillette or baked shrimp mac and cheese. A salad featuring fresh ingredients such as goat cheese, roasted yellow and red beets, pistachios and honey dressing beckon to studio’s roots in Emeryville, California. An array of main entrees will surely satisfy tastebuds after a day of Pixar-filled fun, including a seared grouper, Makhani butter chicken, beef tenderloin and cobb salad, while vegetarian options include a “Poke” bowl and vegetable tagine.
Of course, no dinner menu is complete without dessert accompaniments, and there are several — shall we say — incredibleoptions to note! The signature dessert is a Playful Pixar Ball with baked vanilla cheesecake, blueberry filling and lemon almond cake, while other offerings include strawberry churros, a chocolate pot de crème, pink grapefruit almond cake, poached bosc pear almond tart and a chocolate fudge sundae.
