That even includes your home base—your room, where you can kick back and look forward to the next day of adventures.
On Icon of the Seas, every type of family and traveler—friends, couples and more—will find different thrills, ways to chill and bars and restaurants in order to create their ideal vacation. That even includes your home base—your room, where you can kick back and look forward to the next day of adventures.
There are 28 different types of rooms on Icon, including all-new categories like those with prime views of every sunset and those that have layouts designed just for families. Think: Spaces for adults and kids to hang out together or on their own, additional storage, TV streaming, controlling the lighting and temperature with your phone, convertible balconies that give you more flexibility to enjoy the space and views and more rooms for groups of three, four, five and more.
With choices spanning sizes, layouts, locations and views, you can have your pick based on your style and who you’re with.
Fun fact: Icon had the longest timeframe Royal Caribbean has ever dedicated to designing rooms—from research to design and construction, every detail was scrutinized to create more categories for families, more layouts with ocean views and more space for different-sized groups. Check out this video to learn about everything that went into creating Icon’s next-level accommodations.
Find the perfect place to hang back with your crew with this guide to the different staterooms on Icon:
Ultimate Family Townhouse
This two-bedroom, three-level suite, which sleeps eight, is the most epic family hideaway yet. Everything about Royal Caribbean’s signature Ultimate Family Suite has been taken to the next level, with more room to stay and play. Kids and adults alike will love this imaginative new home away from home that’s debuting on Icon, thanks to made-for-family features and amenities like an in-suite slide; table tennis; areas to watch movies, sing karaoke and play video games; a second private wraparound balcony with a whirlpool and much more. The Townhouse also has its own mailbox and personal patio that boasts a private entrance to the Surfside neighborhood.
Pro tip: This suite comes with a Royal Genie, your very own expert who will make any of your vacation dreams a reality.
Family Infinite Balcony
Do you want to spend quality time as a family and also find some “me time?” The beauty of a first-of-its-kind vacation like Icon is you can do just that every day across eight neighborhoods and even in a room like the Family Infinite Balcony, which is where families of up to six can truly have it all. This room’s spacious design includes a separate alcove for kids that’s decked out with TVs and bunk beds, as well as a split bathroom, with a shower and a sink on one side and a toilet and sink on the other, so that more people can get ready at once. And what’s more, an Infinite Balcony means even more space and flexibility as the push of a button will transform your outdoor oasis into extra living space.
Spacious Infinite Balcony Rooms
Infinite Balconies are new to Royal Caribbean, and their claim to fame is their flexibility. You can maximize your space with a single push of a button, which will transform part of your interior living area into a breezy outdoor balcony. And if you’d rather cool off with the air from your AC, you can simply push the button again to close up the balcony and enjoy that extra room indoors. Another perk? You have more than one view to choose from. Pick from ocean views or Central Park views, where you’ll be able to overlook the open-air neighborhood filled with thousands of real plants, walking paths, restaurants and more.
Surfside Family View Interiors, Balconies and Suites
Nestled in the one-of-a-kind Surfside, the first neighborhood designed for young families, are the exciting Surfside Family View interiors, balconies and suites. The whole family will love having their own neighborhood to explore, with thrills like Splashaway Bay and Baby Bay aqua parks for the little ones and Water’s Edge for adults and older kids. The rooms, which are perfect for a family of up to four, will have children of any age and their parents feeling comfortable as can be. The rooms and suites even have a separate space that transforms from a living room into a kids’ nook that’ll make nighttime play feel extra special. They also come with a split bathroom!
Fun fact: Surfside is where young families can stay and play all day. Everything is at your fingertips, from a beach-themed carousel to a fun-filled arcade. Guests of all ages will enjoy the many eateries—like The Lemon Post bar with menus for adults and kids—and activities like lively family festivals.
Panoramic Ocean View Rooms and Suites
Perched high up on Icon is the new AquaDome, a transformational neighborhood where you can catch both 220-degree ocean views and deck-defying shows at the next-level AquaTheater. Thanks to the hundreds of glass panels that make up the neighborhood, there are new rooms and suites you can call your home away from home that have equally jaw-dropping views.
Fun fact: Icon’s AquaDome offers plenty of nightlife activities, from trying out coffee-infused cocktails at Rye & Bean to watching aerial performers fly around the enormous, shapeshifting waterfall.
The Sunset Suites
What says “vacation” more than enjoying a sunset over the ocean with a cocktail in hand? The new lineup of Sunset Suites on Icon makes, you guessed it, watching the sun go down from a prime spot an everyday thing. After a day of adventures, enjoy your front-row seat to nature’s most incredible show from the comfort of your bed, which faces the ocean or balcony—Sunset Corner Suites even have a wraparound balcony.
Pro tip: A Royal Suite Class accommodation like this one means that you get a bunch of perks, like a Royal Genie and priority access everywhere on board.
Of course, plenty of beloved favorites will make their return on Icon—and even better than before. The new Suite Neighborhood, for example, takes upscale even higher. Only for Suite guests, it features a two-story sun deck with a private pool and hot tub, as well as two exclusive restaurants—the casual Coastal Kitchen and the Mediterranean-inspired The Grove. Whatever your style and however you like to spend your vacations, there’s a room that’s right for you to start and end your days of adventures

New Fireworks Show, Special Castaway Club Gift Announced for Disney Cruise Line’s ‘Silver Anniversary at Sea’
New Fireworks Show, A Special Castaway Club Gift Announced for Disney Cruise Line’s ‘Silver Anniversary at Sea’
Have you heard the news? Disney Cruise Line is turning 25 this summer! From dazzling new entertainment offerings and family activities to inspired menu items and a themed merchandise collection, there is so much to look forward to on board all five ships from May through September of 2023.
With the official celebration beginning in just a few months, we’re excited to reveal more details about the brand-new magic you can experience during our “Silver Anniversary at Sea.”
Watch a New Fireworks Show Light Up the Night
In 1998, Disney Cruise Line made history as the first cruise line ever to produce a fireworks show at sea! In the 25 years since, fireworks have remained a quintessential part of the Disney Cruise Line experience, inspiring core memories for generations of dreamers.
Today, we are thrilled to share that the night sky will shine even brighter this summer as a shimmering new fireworks display premieres on select “Silver Anniversary at Sea” itineraries!
Created in honor of Disney Cruise Line’s 25th anniversary, the limited-time evening extravaganza will uphold the cherished Disney tradition of fireworks and honor Disney’s continuing legacy of adventure. The dazzling spectacle will be set to the tunes of iconic and beloved Disney music, and anchoring the show will be a brand-new signature song created especially for the “Silver Anniversary at Sea.”
The 25th anniversary fireworks show will be featured on most Bahamian, Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises this summer.
Say “Cheers” During a Shimmering Soiree
A captain’s reception is a well-known cruising tradition that has been enjoyed by Disney Cruise Line guests since the very beginning. In honor of our “Silver Anniversary at Sea,” we are reimagining this time-honored event into a one-of-a-kind celebratory experience, adding an extra dose of magic to sailings this summer.
On one evening each cruise, guests will be invited to join their ship’s captain and cruise director in the atrium for an anniversary toast. The festive affair will feature appearances from Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse — dressed for the occasion in their shimmering new looks, of course! — and a delightful rendition of the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” theme song.
Celebrate with A Limited-Edition Castaway Club Gift
If you’ve sailed with Disney Cruise Line before, you can be part of the best club on the high seas – the Castaway Club, which recognizes returning Disney Cruise Line guests with exclusive rewards and perks.
We’re excited to announce that all Castaway Club members who sail during the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” this summer will receive a limited-edition framed art print in their stateroom to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime celebration until supplies last. As shown above, this design was created by Disney artist Joe Kaminski, whose work is featured in The Art of Disney galleries, Disney resort hotels and Disney Cruise Line ships. (One 11×14 framed print will be delivered per stateroom.)
Now is your chance to take part in a milestone celebration 25 years in the making!
Dazzling Details of ‘World of Color – ONE’ at Disney California Adventure Park, Debuting Jan. 27
Dazzling Details of ‘World of Color – ONE’ at Disney California Adventure Park, Debuting Jan. 27
As part of the Disney100 celebration at the Disneyland Resort, the new nighttime spectacular “World of Color – ONE” will debut at Disney California Adventure park on Jan. 27! With an inspiring message that illustrates the storytelling legacy Walt Disney began a century ago, this remarkable production by Disney Live Entertainment is just one of many new experiences and special offerings coming to the resort in honor of The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary in 2023 – including the debut of another all-new nighttime spectacular, “Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland park.
Today, I’m excited to tell you more about the powerful story in “World of Color – ONE” and share how you can experience the show when it debuts. First, here’s a sneak peek!
“World of Color – ONE” celebrates how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. You’ll discover how it only takes one action to make an impact on the people in our lives and the world around us, just as one man – Walt Disney – started the wave that has continued to grow and inspire people around the globe for 100 years.
The spectacular features songs and stories of some of the most courageous, loving and inspiring characters who dared to be wavemakers and change the world. In fact, this is the first Disneyland Resort nighttime spectacular to feature characters, music and moments from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, the Avengers, and Star Wars in the same production. Moments from favorite films such as “The Lion King,” “Moana,” “Coco,” “Mulan,” “Soul,” and others emerge on an immense water screen that can span up to 380 feet across.
This spectrum of stories is set to a beautiful musical score comprised of 18 different compositions, including a new, original song “Start a Wave,” which was written by GRAMMY®-nominated artist Cody Fry and features lead vocals performed by singer-songwriter and actress Loren Allred.
In addition to being a driving metaphor in the story of “World of Color – ONE,” water plays a starring role in transforming Paradise Bay during the show. Each musical moment is brought to life by mist screens and 1,200 dancing fountains, combined with brilliant lighting, projection, laser, fog and flame effects. And you can even wear your MagicBand+ to experience another dimension of storytelling to “World of Color – ONE”! Your band will enhance the effects with synchronized dancing lights and vibrations.
This immersive journey builds to an emotional and uplifting finale that highlights how, when we come together and combine our efforts, many drops can become an ocean. You’ll walk away feeling inspired to start a ripple of your own and be the one to make a wave for the future.
When “World of Color – ONE” debuts, you will be able to access viewing areas for the show through a virtual queue system available only via the Disneyland app.* Distribution for the complimentary virtual queue will begin at noon, daily (subject to availability), and is available for guests who have entered Disney California Adventure park for the day or have entered Disneyland park with a Park Hopper ticket.** On nights when there are multiple showtimes, distribution for additional showtimes will begin immediately after distribution for the first showtime has ended. If you have obtained a virtual queue selection, enter your designated viewing area for your designated show time via one of the two marked entrance points (Blue or Yellow) approximately 30-45 minutes before the show begins. How-to details on the virtual queue system are available at Disneyland.com. If the virtual queue reaches capacity, check in with a cast member at the Paradise Bay viewing area shortly before “World of Color – ONE” begins for walk-up viewing options. Joining the virtual queue is not required, but it is highly recommended as walk-up viewing options for each performance are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
We can’t wait for you to see this larger-than-life spectacular!
Check the latest entertainment details and schedules at Disneyland.com or the Disneyland mobile app. Entertainment, experiences, and offerings may be modified, limited in availability or unavailable, and are subject to restrictions, and change or cancellation without notice. Both Theme Park reservations and valid admission for the same Park on the same day are required for Park entry. Park reservations are limited, subject to availability and not guaranteed. Park admission and offerings are not guaranteed. Visit Disneyland.com/updates for important information to know before visiting the Disneyland Resort.
*Message, data and roaming rates may apply for the use of the Disneyland app. Availability subject to handset limitations and features may vary by handset or service provider. Coverage and app stores not available everywhere. If you’re under 18, get your parents’ permission first.
**Virtual queues for showtimes are limited and subject to availability, and joining a virtual queue does not guarantee entrance to any show. Guests may only enter a virtual queue for “World of Color – ONE” once per day. Subject to other restrictions, and change or cancellation without notice.

Inside Look at What’s Coming to Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
Inside Look at What’s Coming to Walt Disney World Resort Hotel
A visit to Walt Disney World lets you leave reality behind and step into stories both familiar and new. And after a day of those exhilarating adventures, is there anything better than coming back to the fresh lobby scents, amenities and relaxation of your Disney Resort hotel?
We’ve had a lot to celebrate across our more than 25 resort hotels during our 50th Anniversary celebration, and today we’re sharing an inside look at some big and exciting renovations that have been happening around our world. From new dining offerings, room remodels and expansions to refreshed lobby spaces, new furniture, smart technology and more … our Disney Resorts Collection has been rolling out constant, fresh updates ready to welcome you real soon.
Lately we’ve been spending a lot of time at Disney’s BoardWalk, which is evolving into something very special as this resort, sitting along the idyllic boardwalk, is being reinvigorated. This year has kicked off a series of refurbishments for the resort, with new furnishings and the start of delectable dining enhancements such as a new Northeast-inspired deli and a lobby café–Carousel Coffee—coming very soon for those craving a specialty latte and pastry.
Construction is also underway for The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, a whimsical table service restaurant and bakery expected to open in 2023.
You’ll soon be welcomed into the BoardWalk Resort with a lively lobby update, and newly refreshed guest rooms that complement the artful design throughout the resort.
This upcoming year is sure to be an exciting one for Disney’s BoardWalk!
2023 will also be a momentous year for Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as it celebrates its 35th anniversary on July 1! The resort has been receiving some grand touches that weave familiar storybook charm into the Victorian elegance of this flagship resort. Guest rooms are currently being updated as we speak with more to come as the beloved Grand Floridian ushers in its third decade of magic. The ongoing renovation will also include an upcoming refurbishment of the lobby, which will maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements.
The story doesn’t end there, as you can dine underneath the lovely London sky at Citricos, inspired by “Mary Poppins Returns” … and maybe bookend your evening with a shimmering sip at Enchanted Rose Lounge, inspired by “Beauty and the Beast.” And our beloved Victoria & Albert’s – the culinary crown jewel of Walt Disney World Resort and AAA Five Diamond Award winner – reopened its doors this year to rave reviews featuring a renovated interior.
As one of our original hotels, Disney’s Contemporary Resort also recently received thoughtful enhancements that truly tie together the best of retro-modern charm. Within the walls of its a-frame architecture, the lobby now features the flair of color stylist and designer Mary Blair through new murals that complement a lovingly curated collection of modern art and historical photography of the resort’s construction.
Just as the sleek monorail system runs through this hotel, the retro boldness travels into refurbished guest rooms where you’ll find some super touches from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Incredibles” films – the first time our stories have been featured in this resort’s design!
Similar updates have graced the shores of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where we’ve spent special attention merging the heritage and charm of the South Seas with modern touches and even patterns and textures from the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Moana” in guest rooms.
Nearly all elements of this resort have been refreshed in the past few years, from an open and inviting lobby, to dining locations, outdoor spaces and more!
Like many of our other resort hotels, all three of our cherished Disney’s All-Star Resorts—Movies, Music and Sports—are finishing up their refurbishments and welcome you with fresh new guest rooms and open inviting lobbies.
Plus, these resorts are just FUN with their larger-than-life icons, engaging pool areas and plenty of activities to enjoy!
And last but not least, how could we forget about these *fin-tastic* new designs of guest rooms in the Trinidad area of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
Of course, Disney Resort hotel guests also enjoy free onsite transportation – including our newest mode of transportation, the fan-favorite Disney Skyliner! – as well as our popular early theme park entry benefit (not to mention surprise pop-up appearances from beloved Disney pals). And don’t forget about Hey Disney!, our magical new voice assistant that will roll out in phases across Disney Resort hotels.
This is just a small taste at what our resort teams have been up to over the past few years, and we have so much more in store for your next trip. Whether you dream of a campsite or treehouse nestled in nature, a bungalow or cabin along the water, our resorts are refreshed and ready to make your “sweet dreams” come true.
Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more updates on these projects and more!
Disney Eats: What’s Cooking at Disney’s BoardWalk
Disney Eats: What’s Cooking at Disney’s BoardWalk
We've got some delicious and exciting updates coming to you from Disney’s BoardWalk that everyone's taste buds are going to love. This resort has seen multiple culinary updates already this year – most notably the opening of the can’t-miss BoardWalk Deli. Soon there will be even more tasty additions coming to Disney’s BoardWalk, and we've got a sneak peek for everyone.
Let’s kick things off with something we are very excited about – a new coffee shop will be opening soon – Carousel Coffee! This new location will be guests’ new go-to spot for their favorite coffee beverages, tea options, and some mouthwatering pastries to indulge in. This location will feature Artisan Roasted Joffrey’s Coffee in its yummy sips.
Breakfast with Woody and Friends!
In the coming weeks, guests can expect to see the full menu, but we’ve got a few items to share early. Carousel Coffee will be serving a Dark Cherry Mocha Frozen Blended Coffee and Whipped Cream. Cool down with the iconic cherry flavor known in seaside getaways like this and a staple of coffee shops, family-owned delis, and ice cream parlors along the shores.
There will be a seasonal rotation of coffees too! Guests will soon be able to enjoy the Cinnamon Bun Frozen Blended Coffee with Whipped Cream. This delicious frozen drink, dusted with cinnamon spice, lets guests take in the sweet smell that will make them reminisce about the days of old as they venture down the BoardWalk.
The Nitro Cold Brew Coffee is a freshly batched, extra smooth, dark-roasted cold brew coffee infused with nitro. This coffee beverage takes the rich history of coffee and combines it with the ever-popular nitro cold brews of today.
For those tea lovers out there, Carousel Coffee has options for you too. The Pomegranate-Green Tea Lemonade features fresh-squeezed lemon juice thoroughly blended with pomegranate green tea and a touch of agave. This drink is naturally sweetened and served over ice for a cool and refreshing sip.
Now, let’s explore some of the sweets coming to this new spot. The Crunchy Raspberry Danish is a must-try. This treat features crispy sugar dough layers with hibiscus fondant and raspberry. Think of a croissant and muffin combined! There are also plenty of classic treats, like the Vintage Mickey & Minnie Sugar Cookie, Banana Bread, Croissant, Blueberry Muffin, Chocolate Muffin, NJ Crumb Cake, and Bagels. And what Disney location would not be complete without a Mickey Brownie?
Another addition that sweet lovers are sure to be excited about is The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk. This new location recently began construction to bring the new spot to life and is slated to open in 2023. We recently shared a first look at what guests can expect The Cake Bake Shop to look like once it opens its doors on the BoardWalk – just look at how pretty it is. As guests walk past this spot, they'll be able to get a glimpse at some of the tasty dishes that lie ahead once it opens. This restaurant is owned by Gwendolyn Rogers, a self-taught baker with a love for Disney and obviously cakes!
Upon opening, this sweet spot will feature both savory and sweet items on its menu, and of course showcase the incredible cakes that Gwendolyn and her team have created, for brunch, lunch, and dinner. In addition to the regular menu, guests will also be able to enjoy an elegant afternoon tea service – how lovely! And the offerings don’t stop there. Not only, will there be table-service offerings, but also a quick-service bakery for guests to pick up these delicious delights on-the-go.
There aren’t just cakes here. The restaurant and bakery will serve cookies, French macarons, brownies, dessert bars, pies, and cheesecakes in addition to the handmade cakes. These treats aren’t just beautiful but delicious too. The whimsical atmosphere of The Cake Bake Shop and its goodies are sure to be a charming addition to the BoardWalk.
There we have it, some of the tasty tidbits coming soon to Disney’s BoardWalk!

The Joyful Lemon Cupcake will spark happiness with its lemon sponge and vanilla crème frosting, while the Toy Story Letter Blocks (chocolate blocks filled with mixed candy) and the Sheriff Rice Krispy Treats Badge will make the perfect Pixar pick-me-up.
Themed desserts will also be available in grab-and-go locations aboard the Disney Fantasy, including Cabanas, Cove Café and the concierge lounge.
California-Inspired Eats
In the evening, a new dinner menu with dishes inspired by the home of Pixar Animation Studios will be served at all rotational dining venues.
Highlights from the appetizer selection include a smoked salmon and smoked trout rillette or baked shrimp mac and cheese. A salad featuring fresh ingredients such as goat cheese, roasted yellow and red beets, pistachios and honey dressing beckon to studio’s roots in Emeryville, California. An array of main entrees will surely satisfy tastebuds after a day of Pixar-filled fun, including a seared grouper, Makhani butter chicken, beef tenderloin and cobb salad, while vegetarian options include a “Poke” bowl and vegetable tagine.
Of course, no dinner menu is complete without dessert accompaniments, and there are several — shall we say — incredibleoptions to note! The signature dessert is a Playful Pixar Ball with baked vanilla cheesecake, blueberry filling and lemon almond cake, while other offerings include strawberry churros, a chocolate pot de crème, pink grapefruit almond cake, poached bosc pear almond tart and a chocolate fudge sundae.
